Control Methods, Inc. has the Optical Switch solution you've been looking for!

Control Methods, Inc. model OC20 Intella-Sense Optical Control is the first of its kind "programmable" fiber optic sensor utilizing the newest, most versatile technologyThese optical devices have been designed and proven to solve your toughest sensing problems, fit your most intricate applications, while meeting your most demanding requirements.  All this at the cost of many conventional sensors.  It's true!  Make the Intella-Sense decision.

Eliminating Analog Output:
When working with a programmable logic controller (PLC), the analog signal must be processed by converting it into digital form.  This requires expensive additional hardware.  Extra software with its attendant memory and debug requirements is then needed to perform a digital comparison on the converted signal.  Another avenue would keep the signal in the analog realm and feed it to an analog comparator.  Here a digital signal would be developed which would then need to be buffered up to a level which is compatible with the input of a PLC.  This again demands additional hardware and debug time.  Furthermore, this solution may not be acceptable in many facilities.

All this expense and time can be avoided if the requisite comparisons are done in the measuring equipment and the PLC is presented with a compatible yes/no digital signal.  The underlying solution is the reasoning behind the innovative design of Control Methods, Inc., Intella-Sense Optical Control.

Units come standard with an alphanumeric readout indicating the percentage of infrared energy received from the unit’s transmitter.  Simple entry through the keypad allows for quick set-up in which all parameters are programmed into the unit in response to menu prompts on the display.   This feature assists in setting window limits enabling the unit to adapt to a variety of sensing applications.  Each sensor comes equipped with 2 outputs (OUT A, OUT B) with the ability to program up to 4 windows.
