What is a SmartImage Sensor?
A SmartImage Sensor is indeed a sensor. It detects and senses
the world around it, delivering information to machines for
making critical process control decisions.
SmartImage Sensors employ a CCD that provides the system with
"vision", but not just any vision. Unlike a
video-based camera with a frame-grabber, which can produce an
unstable image - DVT's SmartImage Sensors use a patented direct
to memory image acquisition technology. Images are seen accurate
enough to make precise measurements and fast enough to allow
hundreds of image acquisitions per second.
SmartImage Sensors are smart. Really smart. With Power PC
processors built right in, these programmable units can measure,
count, find features and compare likenesses, communicating via
Ethernet, serial, or digital I/O to robot controllers, PC-based
control systems and many other automation devices. TCP/IP
Ethernet means easy and accurate reporting of information to
your entire enterprise.
